Tanya Alpert, knitwear designer and author of Haiku Knits, was born in Eastern Europe (Kiev, Ukraine), and graduated from the Kiev Institute of Art & Design. She first learned to knit at six years old.

Since moving to the United States in 1988 she had explored many forms of art including Fiber Art, Jewelry Design and Graphic Arts. Her fiber art pieces have been shown in galleries around the United States, and her jewelry and knitting creations have been sold around boutiques in La Jolla and Del Mar, California.

Throughout many changes in Tanya’s life, the one aspect that remained constant was her love for fiber, knitting and creating art.

Tanya’s designs go beyond the traditional. Influenced by nature, her unique collection of knitted designs is modern, simple and very wearable.
